Loaded croissants, pancakes and riverside pizza for breakfast. Here's my guide to the best brunch spots in Applecross and Ardross.

Brunch by the river

Applecross and Ardross sit on the southern banks of the Swan River, and they’re home to some of Perth’s best brunch spots. Ardross Street, in particular, has become a weekend destination.

Here’s my guide to the best places for brunch in the area.

“My perfect weekend morning starts with a riverside walk at Point Heathcote, followed by a long brunch on Ardross Street with family.”

Alex Hamilton, Editor

Nic and Kolo

At the southern end of Applecross Village, Nic and Kolo is fully licensed and serves an all-day brunch with an Asian fusion twist. It’s known for creative dishes like cinnamon scroll pancakes.

Ardross Street Cafe

A long-time favourite on the Applecross strip, Ardross Street Cafe does brunch classics really well. Think brioche French toast, corn fritters and perfectly poached eggs.

Cheeky Boy Espresso

Cheeky Boy Espresso is always busy, and for good reason. The menu covers smashed avocado, hot cakes, granola and paninis.

Cioccolato Espresso

On Ardross Street, Cioccolato Espresso has a beautiful botanical laneway for seating. It’s famous for its hot chocolates and indulgent loaded croissants.

Canteen Pizza

For something different, Canteen Pizza’s riverside location serves a morning menu with breakfast pizzettas and cinnamon doughnuts.

Crumbs Patisserie

On Ardross Street, Crumbs Patisserie is led by a pastry chef who trained at Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck. Stop in for almond croissants, macarons and slices.

Quick coffee stops

  • Little Horn Espresso, Kishorn Road: a small, busy coffee spot with sweet and savoury treats.
  • Small Farms Wholefoods, Canning Highway: coffee, bagels and smoothie bowls, alongside organic produce.
  • Steam Lab Coffee and Tea: tucked away behind Canning Highway, with breakfast and lunch.
  • Artem, Mount Pleasant: just down the road, and known for its mochi waffles.

Walk it off

After brunch, take a stroll along the river foreshore. Point Heathcote and the Applecross jetty both have beautiful views back across the Swan River to the city. The City of Melville website has maps of the foreshore paths and parks.
